Default h22/h23?

ok i already posted this thread in the hybrid section, but i know there's not much action over there so here it goes...

ok well i am about positive that i wanna do the swap now. i just can't decide which to do? i can get the h22 for like 2100 complete...but haven't checked on the h23 (anyone have a good idea?). is there that big of a difference besides vtec? HP differences? i just want the 94 accord DX 4 dr. to be fast. as of now i have the $ for the swap and maybe a few mods...but through time hopefully a full build. any advice would be appreciated.

o does anyone recommend a good place to get an h22 or 23? i know of a few, but don't really know anything about them. i'm located in Athens, GA.

...thanks...

i would recomend going with the H22. it gives you more flexibility and a better base to start ur mods. mods will produce better results with the H22

The H23 is the stronger block and thus has the most potential to survive boosting, but the lack of VTEC somewhat limits the quick horsepower gains. That means you'll have to put more money into the H23.

H23 is usually cheaper. has about 160 hp vs the more expensive H22 with 190-220 hp (depending on which motor). If you aren't going to go very nuts with this get the H22. If your broke get the H23 or save up some more and be patient. If you want to spend tons of money build/FI an H23.

If you have time on your hands get an H23 block and H22 head and get the best of both worlds. You will need someone with experience to do this right, it may cost a lil more up front although long term gains may be very significant, and reliability may be an issue.

h23 and h22 blocks are teh same.
the h23 is an h22 with an f22 crank in it.
the h23 vtec is NOT worth it...the one made by honda, th h23a, makes the same HP and 2 ft/lbs of torque more, and thats comparing stock to stock engines.
an h23a1 swap will run in the $900-1300 range usually for the engine tranny and ecu ...and it will put you into mid to high 15s usually, though low 15s may not be too hard to get.
an h22a....will smoke an h23a1....i have an accord wagon with an h22a and raced a prelude si on the freeway, from 70-110mph...i left him about 4 car lengths back...repeatedly.
