I currently started having this problem with my Honda. I'll tell ya the story. I was leaving for work and my car was driving fine and I stopped at a stop light when the light turned green I coasted into the middle of the street and my car stopped. It was like my car slipped from Drive to Neutral. Two people had to get out and push my car across the street and one gave me a ride to work. As soon as my car heats up its like its in Neutral it just revs when you press the gas peddle even if its in Drive. Me and my roommate took it to an IT! place and they told me that there was probably metal shavings in it and that it'll cost me over a grand to fix. From what I'm told a few metal shaving are normal so I think they were lying. I talked to another Transmission place and they said the best bet would to put a used transmission in it which will cost about $600 and plus $300 for labor. From what I stated in the log what do you think the problem really is?

Well if it happened suddenly without warning then it's not the tranny, but if you've been having slipping and stuff for awhile then it is.

Well, a few weeks before it happened its been making weird noises and idling rough. I've also just recently gotten a shifting cable installed but I'm not sure if that's the fault. I know what I'm going to do about it. But I'd just like some ideas on what could be going on with it.

mine went out like that in jan.. i didnt get the flashing tranny light or any warning just driving along and it went out, i figured the fluid wasnt getting thru the screens to the axles, i crawled home in 1st.. clutch pack or troque convert material comes off and clogs up the screens.. i had it in the dealer a 10 days earlier for a tranny flush they have always done the tranny fluids and on time.. they said the tranny was fine at the time..so they just go out.. its a 92 auto.. its normal to have some metal shavings on the plug its magnetic.. the dealer put in a used on they found it..1 yr warranty..

It sounds like your tranny is shot...with automatics it's much cheaper and easier to replace the unit than actually try to figure out what's wrong with it and fix it.

^ Order a new tranny, do not buy it directly from the mechanic...Youll save about 300.00 if u order one..

Try ebay too...I got a used tranny with 33k miles for $600 on ebay and it's been flawless. It's now at 73k tranny miles and 190k chassis miles.

What I've decided it to get a used tranny and we'll see how it works then. Thanks.

^ NEVER EVER BUY PRODUCT directly from a mechanic.....Theyll tell u the product in which ur buying from them is used with about 13k, but little do u know, all that they are going to do is go to the junk yard and buy a tranny with 3x the mileage...
