Default What's The Age and Mileage on Your Ride, and Do You Plan on Keeping Her?

Got almost 58,000 on my '99 and she has a shot tranny and is getting a new one soon (see thread); what years are some of your guys' Accords and what kind of mileage is on them, just for curiosity reasons (I guess like another updated poll) and how long you plan on keeping her?

I have a 95 Accord and it has about 95,000 miles on it. I have been thinking about selling the accord and getting a Nissan 300zx.

161,000 miles on my 96 Accord. Bought with only 40,000 miles. Aside from the clear coat peeling off the hood and trunk, the car has not aged whatsoever in 120,000 worth of driving. Have not had ANY problems with it outside of general upkeep/maintenance. Had only one tune-up done for free (under the extended warranty) at 90,000 miles and that was it. Going in next week for a new paint job, tires, suspension and a second tune-up/timing belt service as preventive maintenance.

This car is a keeper.

Wow.....95K huh? I had a '94 EX Coupe before this '99 and she only had 40K something on her before I sold her privately to someone at work.

Good luck if you go with the 300ZX! Guess you gotta find one in good condition out there.....

Would you consider a new 350Z?

Thanks for sharing your mileage and "keeper" decision, Honda!

Seems like I got a pretty crappy '99 EX V-6 car; since owning it from Halloween of '98, I have had this done to it:

-New ABS relay system because it wasnt working out of the factory
-Body shop repairs on the REAR and FRONT from two separate accidents; many, many components replaced in the front end accident
-New battery
-New alternator
-Burned out fog lamp (fixed; I think I may have another one out)
-Had white paint splashed all over the car from a truck that dumped a bucket of paint off the back; had to have that professionally detailed off
-Needs a new transmission
-Burned out climate control lighting (fixed)
-Burned out fog lamp interior indicator (a whole new BUTTON would need to be ordered to fix this)

This list can go on and on.....AND ALL THIS HAS HAPPENED AT UNDER 60K......thats why Im considering a trade in at this point.

Meaning........

But what about the other stuff, Sibryk? Would you just consider that other stuff regular maintenance issues on a car, like a battery AND alternator going at UNDER 60K? Is that normal for a Honda? And now I need a new tranny which I dont know was from cause of the accident or not........

In a word, no. For the V6 models, Honda went with Delphi as a supplier for their alternators and perhaps several other components that would have otherwise been Denso. Delphi is also a supplier to General Motors, and anyone who has had any experience with owning GM vehicles (I raise my hand) Mechanical/electrical components do not last. It is not uncommon to have to replace many of them long before 100,000 miles. Granted, they are cheaper than Denso parts, but you get what you pay for. These premature part failures are a large part of the reason GM is plagued with reliability and high maintenance problems. Unfortunately, I belive Toyota also uses Delphi on their V6 models as well. As a general rule, Denso parts are far superior in quality and last MUCH longer. I'm on my original alt. on the 96. My TA can only envy it. It's been through 3 batteries in 55k miles. My Accord's factory battery lasted almost 8 years!

Yes, I knew this about the Accord alternators and Delphi......

I would LOVE to have a 350Z, I just dont have the money. I know of a kid here in Indy that is selling his 300zx and its in great shape with only 60,000 miles and its a twin turbo! He wants 8,000.
