Default why do you do it? Accord owners

i've had my 2000 Accord LX for almost a year and recently started messing with bolt-on mods, since my dealership warranty is almost gone, no fear of messing that up. anyways, for most people, modding a LX, let alone a 4-door is pointless because of -=insert reason here=-. for me, it's not necessarily about racing, i just do it to learn about my car's engine, so in the future when i buy another lighter more sporty car, i'll know what i'm doing. sure it's fun to be able to gain a few HP here and there and smoke some ricey high school kid, but all in all, i'm going it for kicks. am i wrong? why do you guys bother modding up your Accords?

I'd say i do it for the same reason. Its not to have more HP than someone else, i'm going to college right now for auto mechanics. I currently work at a shop and i think its rather fun bolting on stuff to the engine or even hooking up various gauges inside my car. I know most of them wont' really help with anything but it helps me learn like how that works or whatever.

And then of course because it makes it more my car than just another in a parking lot.

Because my parents bought it for me and just like the other guy said, I want it to be more than just another car in a parking lot. That's basically it.

gives me something to stay away from those drugs and also makes my ride look a bit out of the ordinary. plus, my suspension setup is pure sex right now.

A car is just an extension of yourself.

While bolt ons for the motor won't do a lot, changes in the suspension, wheels and tires CAN make a significant performance difference, so start there.

Its also about how you drive your car. You can have all the hp in the world but its useless if you don't have the driving skills to back it up.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Very True.

For me, working on my car and making the little, sometimes insignificant modifications presents a learning experience, and at the same time easier to find your vehicle in a large parking lot.

I want my car to be "different", I would like a bit more spaz when I kick the gas and drop into second just for those crazy highway incidents. When you own an Accord making it stand out is almost impossible, I'm not into flash, but performance is important. My girl is quick, looks good, and sounds nice....
