Default Accord Exhaust/Idle Problem

Hello All,

I'm new to the forum.
Thank you in advance for all future and past post.

I own a 1995 Honda Accord EX 4dr Automatic 2.2 4cyl Vtec (Federal Emissions).

I recently replaced the intermediate pipe purchased from
overnightautoparts - made by Bosal Part # 284-021 (H5000-51056).
I had a crack in it for about 2 month prior to replacement.

Now my car vibrates a lot when I am stopped and in gear.
I noticed that my RPM is just barely over 500 rpms.
I'm pretty sure that is used to hover near 1000 rpm,
before replacement
Could the the Bosal aftermarket intermediate pipe
be that different from OEM to cause
the timing/idle speed to lower??

My car also makes a weird sound when i'm decreasing speed on a highway.
I'm guessing that is just a feature of the aftermarket part.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
DK

Update.

Well I just checked with my other friend
that has a honda accord 95 and his idle speeds are the same as mine.

Could it be that the way this new intermediate pipe was
installed and/or was designed just happens to start vibrating
at my idle speed??

I've noticed when installing new exhaust pipes of any kind, alignment can get it touching the floorpan. Loosen the flanges, pull the pipes around. You have to position the system so it has room to grow when it gets hot. It'll get 1/2" longer so it's not good enough to just let it hang & check when it's cold. You have to think about what it's gonna hit when it grows.

It's also possible that your engine mounts are getting soft? When you're decelerating the engine wants to 'lean' forward. That lifts the exhaust pipe up & closer to the floorpan.
