sometimes the radiator fan stays on after the car is parked, then the car will not start back up , it needs time. So my thought is that there must be some safety to keep the car from starting when the radiator fan is running because the fan is running to cool of a car that may be overheating...but the temp gauge is reading 1/4-1/2...ssoooooo relays, switches, anybody have any ideas? Iv'e already checked the coolant level.

 

the radiator fan may stay on after the car is off during the summer. I dont think there is any safety thinging to keep the car off is too hot/ overheating. my car was overheating and it turn on every time. my problem was the relay.

ur problem sounds like a relay problem and is very common. especialy the relay around the radiator.

 

Depending on the year, I would assume main relay.

 

also depends ont he conditions...OG should state the conditions.
