Default Shifting On a automatic Accord

Hello i wanted to know if it was bad to put an accord on the 1 gear, well putting the shifter all the way down and shifting it up as the rpm goes up like a manuel shifted car..Well sounds pretty confusing but who ever knows about it please because my friend does it and he told me as long as you let go of the gas pedal and shift then its fine..

there truely is no point in doing it since you wont exactly gain any speed out of it as opposed to mashing it.

if he wanted to shift it, then tell him to just buy a manual. plus...honda autos arent the longest lasting trannies ever made.

It will not cause any damage at all and you don't have to back off the gas pedal, why would you have to, the auto doesn't do it when it changes normally.

For upshifting it won't hurt anything. But I won't do it regularly for downshifting. They have a pushbutton lockout on 2nd and 1st gear when downshifting for a reason.

I regularly switch the selector into D3 when going down steep hills for more engine braking in 3rd gear to increase brake life.

I'd rather replace brake pads than a transmission.
