Ok I got another transmission question. Mine is for newer 7th Gen Accords (Automatics). When stopped at a stop light, is it better to put the car in Neutral or have it in gear with the brakes on? I know it doesn't make much of a difference to the daily driver, but specifically what's better for the car?

leave it in gear...taking it in and out of gear for no reason is just uneccessary changes for the tranny to make

wow theres lots of tension with automatic and maunel transmission...damn i'd hate to be in the middle of this but why is manual, from what i have heard and this isnt my personal opinion but from the dealership parts saleman he told me that automatics keeps its value better then manual transmission because of the clutch replacing and that people perfer automatics because in traffic its a bitch to keep shifting and etc.
so what do you guys think i mean its coming straight from a honda salesmen ?

not too much damage, but @ autocross speeds( track style) you could overheat the transmission. i have 2 cars; an evo and an accord v6auto. i have learned that using the tranny is this manner is actually pretty hard on the motor mounts though.

Someone feel free to correct me if am wrong, but the reason automatics "hold their value"/are more expensive at dealerships is because the automatic takes more technology. A 5speed/manual is considered "standard" transmission, equipment-wise. It depends on peoples' preferences, but if you enjoy driving a stick, you'll drive a stick. If you can't drive a stick, or you don't like it, you'll drive an automatic. Personally, owning one of both types, I can't stand driving the automatic. A lot of people don't like having to hassle with a stick, so, since it's more "electronic/technological" the dealers have automatics priced as more because of the equipment.

anyways, that's what I've been informed. Someone correct me if I'm wrong..

unless you get a G35 coupe, when i scoped them out the manual was an 'upgrade', me personally i like manuals more but if i had to drive bumper to bumper every day....let's just say i'm glad i leave for work @ 10 a.m. and not 7.!

g35 coupes, if i'm not mistaken, the upgrade manual for them is 6speed.
The standard would be 5speed.

I'd say the biggest reason why Automatic Accords hold their value better than manuals, is because the average 'family-man' buyer prefers Automatic....

Simple.
