Default ipod & tape deck

I have a 98 EX with stock in-dash CD player. Also, installed was a dealer installed Honda tape deck below it.

Question is: I have an Ipod that I use with my other car using a tape adapter. However the Honda's tape deck will not accept it (it spits it right back out). Are there any tricks to get it to read the adapter?

Thanks!

Back in the day, I had the same problem with the tape deck of my 96 Accord and the tape adapter for my Sony Discman. I found that if I set up the discman to start playing the first track on the cd and then insert the cassette adapter into the tape deck it would work, but if I tried to stick the cassette adapter with out first turning on the discman it would spit the tape back out. Your cassette adapter might be the same way.

play a tape in there first then insert it, also you might want to try disabling your suto reverse feature, sometimes that is a problem for some reaon (look in your manual)

Thanks! I didn't know you could disable the auto reverse feature, I bet that would do it!

I just checked the manual that came with the tape-deck and the car manual and neither mentions being able to turn off the auto reverse. ????

what setup do you have? is the radio a double din device with the tape deck mounted in it's own pocket above the cubby hole? most times you can buy a cable or device that plugs into the changer port (provided your radio has this capability; look for the button on the face) to create an aux in using rca connectors and allow control from the headunit. however, it seems like the changer port is already occupied by the tape deck and there is not another port on the tape deck. your options would be to loose the tape deck, go with another method (like rf modulated or another tape adapter), or rig something up where you can use both.

An "iTrip" for ipod (works with most pods, except shuffle) is like 30 bucks from Apple. There are mixed reviews as to wether they work or not, mine works fine, and since your used to using a tape adapter quality won't be that different. But can depend on local station frequencies in your area.
