One point??? Change the oil the then... New ign. parts, cap, rotor, plugs (honda stuff would be ideal) and it should pass. Run the car for awhile on the way down to the smog test get it nice and hot.

Try putting in 93 octane fuel and run it on the highway for about 30 minutes before retest. The reason is that the higher octane fuel will burn slower and release less hydrocarbons. How high were your NOx readings? From my experience, warmer temps. increase emmissons outputs, so retest on a cool day.

By the way, my 90 Accord has passed emmissons, but failed for rust on the 1/4 panels. I still can't get my car passed.

I haven't seen 93 octane fuel for awhile. Besides that the computer will adjust the timing if he puts in a higher octane and he will not get any better results..I highly doubt they check NOX in Oregon. Probably just a TSI test.

As suggested above, do a good routine minor maintenance. Oil, plugs, etc.

Be sure your is hot before you ever take it into emissions.

A car that old you may also want to maybe look to the cat. for trouble. If you haven't ever replaced it, it could be getting glogged.... Just a thought.

i dont think they started to adjust timing until the 6th gen accords.
the car is like 15 years old, why would they know how to do that? lol

but yea, if you do a basic tune-up up, it should pass with flying colors liek mine

Let me ask you first why you think that the car does not adjust timing?

read up on basic engine performance, all engines adjust timing in one way or another to compensate for loads/fuel condition...

because ive put 91 plus octane booster in my car and have not felt any difference as opposed to 87, just that it gives me worse mileage.

i thought it was all computer based...how would the engine itself know how to adjust the timing? the only way would be computer controlled or dizzy.

but hey, i dont work on hondas for a living...and from older posts you do.
