first it wont be just a sigle player that'll fit in thatslot underneath..it'll be a changer..and i believe it costs in the upwards of 200-300 bucks...i would just get an aftermarket changer...IMO i would get an Alpine MP3 player with the controller for about $400 total...plus install unless your'e doing it yourself.

I cant stand a player that plays only audio cd's. I have most of my album collections on cd-r's/cd-rw's right now....i can fit 6-7 albums per cd....sounds good huh? I can even fit more if i compress it more, but i want perfect cd quality.

Dave

P.S. Listen to The Dude, get a haynes or helms manual. Preferably a Helms(it goes into MUCH more detail).

open the center console compartment, underneath the plastic plate (or CD holder) there are 2 screws to take out... then pull the cup holder out, and there is another screw in there, the one by itself close to the edge. The armrest assembly will pop out from the other part of the console, and you can remove it. Where the 2 console pieces met, there are 2 screws that hold the black trim in place... then one more behind the ash tray... with those out, the black trim will pop out, you then disconnect the switches, clock and cigeratte lighter and the trim is out of the way. On the underside of the pocket, there are 2 screws that hold the radio in... take those out and the radio/pocket assembly can be unplugged and pulled out.

The single disc add on player should come with a few new brackets, and it actually ends up being mounted on top of the cassette player. If you are getting a good deal on this player, its a good solution if you are after a stock look. The sound quality is not as great as an aftermarket unit, but it functions well and does play CD-R's and CD-RW's... just not MP3's.

For about $300 you can get a brand new Alpine M-bus 6 disc changer and an adapter to plug into the back of your stock cassette deck (Best Buy & Circuit City have the adapters for the best price of about $30, specialty shops charge about $60), then mount the changer in a place of your liking (trunk, glove box, center console compartment) and you'll have 6 disc convience, plus a totally stock looking dash. All you'd need to take the cassette deck out for is to plug in that one connector, and thats it.

Default CD player

Thanks for the above posts. It is my daughter's car & she just wants the single original looking player, in the dash. I don't understand it, either, because her last car had a changer in the trunk that was great. The 6,-12 disc changer is no more expensive than the single. Well, it is her car.
Haynes manual. I have been looking, but only one auto parts store anywhere near here. [ i live in the " sticks !" Will look again when I get to the " big city ." Thanks again, to all.

The reason for the price similarity is pretty simple... the single disc player is a Honda product (usually) and they can be found for roughly $200 on eBay... if you were to get a Honda 6 disc changer, be prepared to sell organs... as they run about $400-$500  Being they are OEM products, they tend to jack up the price.

The Alpine unit (6 disc), brand new, goes for $279... and then $30 for the adapter.

You may want to try on eBay, they usually have Haynes or Helms manuals for sale for Honda's.

Also, if you have the Honda manual that may have come with the car, the last page in the book tells you how to go about purchasing a Helms manual.
