Default Lifter Question

Hey I am new here just bought a 05 I4 5spm.

I have about 1000 miles on the car. I was driving the other day and heard what sounded like lifter tick (can only be heard from outside of the vehicle). Is slight lifter tick normal on these engines or should I take it to the dealer to have the lifters adjusted?

Also off the topic but I am curious do these engines have timing belts or chains?

Thanks
James

With 1000 miles? No. It is probably the injectors. Honda injectors are notorious for being loud.

What style of lifters did they use on these vehicles?
It might be the injectors i did not listen specifically as to which one was making the noise but it def sounded closer to lifter than injector tick. (but then again I am not familiar w/ what Honda equipment sounds like)

Thanks
James

I'm pretty sure the 7th-gen 4-cyl (K-series engine) has a chain.

Chain.

Also there are no lifters. the cam drives the rocker thats why there can be a slight valve tap.
