Default Drove with Parking Brake On! Help!

Hi,

Today I drove my car about 7 miles to my office with the parking brake on. Too bad I noticed it only when I stopped the car in the lot. The brake was on halfway and not at the full level. I am too much worried will that cause any repair now? please help me.

First of all...how the hell did you miss that bright red light staring at you in the panel?!? So you didn't even check your instrument cluster for the 7 miles you drove, speedo, gas, temp, etc huh? Other than that, I don't think it's a problem, I wouldn't worry to much about it as long as you didnt' see smoke or hear some grinding sound, etc.

PS...where in Morris are you from? I'm from Morris County as well.

Unless your rear pads were almost worn out anyway, you should be OK unless you heard noises or something like that. Probably worse case scenario is you might need to adjust the tension on your emergency brake cable there under your console. I only say that because you may have stretched the cable some.

Watch for the lever being up and that red light on the dash next time... ;-)

You may have overheated your rear calipers. Watch for the handbrake NOT releasing properly now, because of corrosion of the little lever at the caliper. Also the handbrake return spring (at the caliper) might have lost it's strength from being too hot.

If you did not see any smoke coming from the rear wheels I would not worry about it at all

It's probably about equivalent to 2 hours of service for a taxi in a major city. You ate 300 miles off the life of your pads (they usually last 60,000 miles). You'll live.
