Default Auto Trans Leak

Anyone have a leak from the bottom back of the tranny?

I need to look better but it seems it is coming from around the area where the speedometer cable enters the trans.

had another leak it looked like hydraulic fluid or clean brake fluid but it stopped? Just had the car in for the timing belt I wonder if the monkeys were a little rough.

I'll be under it tonight.

Thanks,

Joe

are u 100% is tranny fluid? a timing belt job shouldnt get near the tranny.
but for some reason them ppl always touch things they not supposed too, like my speedometer was fk up because the mechanic mess with the sensor and left it lose. ofcourse i never went back there and end up redoing the timing on a diff place. freaking losers crappy mechanic.

I really need to look it over better I hit it with a white paper towel before lunch and it had a red tint to it. On the bottom rear of the tranny I thought tranny first. It looked like it was from the spedo spot. Could be higher and settled there.

Thanks,

Joe

Scratch that speedo leak. Hopeful wishes.

Coming from the drivers side input shaft where the shaft enters the tranny.

Looks like back to the dealer and a couple hundred more. Anyone do a seal like this at home?

Worth the effort. I like to know the job was done right.

I can tell you that more than likely you'll end up needing a tranny. 6th Gen V6 trannies had trouble because they'd burn out internally. The 4 cyl 6th gen trannies had problems with worn bearings in the final drive (where the CV shaft goes into the trans). It appears to be a seal that's gone bad, but if you grab the inner joint, you'll probably going to get a helluva lot of play out of it. That's not something that'll be fixed by replacing a seal. It probably needs a transmission. I hope I'm wrong, but I saw a lof of that problem while I was working for Honda.

accord,

Your not wrong just got the word today your dead on!! It needs a trans!!!

Worst part I have 109Kon it and 9K over the warrantee. This is the second trans the first went in at 24K so 85K on this one. I called Honda to see what they could do about good will. We'll see what happens. Now the fluid was changed at 65K with Honda fluid and I have a cooler on it and drive at 75 all day how does a well designed trans blow from this?

There should be a recall and let them step up to the plate!

its not well designed. my 94 Accord auto tranny died on my at 120k w/ a tranny cooler however i put a decent amount of nitrous use on it though. i tore it apart and the clutch packets were trashed. 5th gen auto trannies dont have replacable filters and my screen was clogged with tiny metal shavings and im assuming this clog prevented proper ATF pressure and killed the clutch packets. i bought a manual tranny and manual conversion parts and converted to stick. best mod ever. my turbo will thank me for it when i get around to installing it.
