Jiffy Lube forgot to replace air filter.
My mom had her '02 Accord EX V6 oil changed at Jiffy Lube 5000 miles ago. They also recommended a new air filter, which she agreed to.
She started complaining about rough idling recently. When I checked out her car, she had no air filter.
What kind of damage could this have caused?
What should I have done to the car?

im assuming no filter means lots of crap and particles gettin into the throttle/engine. not horrible if for a little bit, but that type of stuff can cause engine damage. id really fuss the hell out of jiffy lube, ask for your money back. and if any problems arise from the no-air filter, take it back to jiffy lube and hit 'em hard.
my brother has our familys 97 subaru legacy and went for an oil change at jiffy lube. they forgot to tighten the part that keeps the oil from draining. he didnt know until he tried to leave his friends house later that day. his friend's dad came out, noticed a trail of oil, and they followed it for 3+ miles, searched around and found the screw or whatever that had fallen off. needless to say, i went back and b*tched them out and got our money back.

It is reasons like this that people learn to do basic car maintenence themselves. How hard is it to screw up an oil change or air filter replacement? For these guys, it appears to be pretty easy. Make it easy on yourself next time and do it yourself. It involves removing 4 screws, pulling the old element out, putting the new one in, and tightening the screws. Why pay someone tons of money to screw it up when you can do it yourself cheaper and with the peace of mind that it was done right the first time?
document this issue, have it signed off on as evidence. keep your service record and take note of the mileage you brought the car back at.
5,000 miles without a filter isn't a good thing. you need to get your oil changed asap too. I can't imagine what that stuff looks like.

Put in a new filter, and get an oil filter ASAP. I am sure the throttle body, Map sensor, and entire intake manifild are in big time need of a nice cleaning as well. Thats probably the reason for the rough idle.
