Default F23 lighter flywheel clutch install.

I've got yet another question.

It's about time I replace my OE clutch (62k mi) and mines showing it's age. Bigger 18" RacingHart M5's and some learning to drive a 5-speed better since the car was new likely has aged my clutch more then most.

Thinking of installing a lighter flywheel and slightly better clutch. I'm looking at Fidanza flywheel 8lbs. and Exedy organic clutch.

Any issues with an aftermarket flywheel on the F23 engine. I read an install once where an F22 CL clutchmasters flywheel didn't come with the bronze pilot bushing. Is this still an issue with the F23, I'd prefer to make this as simple as I can for the dealer to install. As far as I've seen Honda doesn't sell a flywheel pilot bushing? Is the Fidanza unit a simple bolt on?

Any opinions on the Exedy clutch, I figure an OE clutch assembly and lighter clutch would wear the clutch disc too soon on accout that lighter flywheels likely needs a bit more slippage at take off. Much like having bigger heavy tire combos do to.

Anyone using a lighter flywheel on an F23 Accord, opinions welcome?

well, if you are using a 8lbs, you should go for a stage one. while 8lbs is okay from what i hear, slipping will be needed.

personally, id stick with a aftermarket 12lb.

I was looking into the Exedy clutch for that reason, I don't believe any of the ACT, Exedy, etc. are OE replacements at least not for what I've seen in price and OE clutch kit runs about $150, it's at least double for the kits I've priced.

I've also always had a small 50shot dry kit on my mind for a good few years now, I figure if I plan to use Nitrous as a fun toy for making freeway drives to work interesting then I'd better pony up for a tad better clutch too.

But I definately think I'm going to use the Fidanza flywheel and it only comes in 8lbs. The others I've seen appear to be lightened OE flywheels and I don't want any crap like that.

Exedy is the OEM for hondas. On most sites ive seen you can buy a stage 1 package, which comes with exedy clutch and flywheel together. I would get one of those.

i got a package deal from prostreetonline for a fidanza style 8lb flywheel and exedy stage 1 clutch. Everything works great and drivability isn't inhibited. You really don't have to slip the clutch more. Itts just less forgiving if you suck.

:lmfao: Cool, who did your install, I'm thinking of taking mine to a local Honda dealer since I don't know any mechanics now that I have just moved to Chicagoland.

exedy makes more than just stock OEM replacements they have organic discs and puck discs as well.

i was spraying a 75 shot on an exedy 3 puck cerametallic sprung disc and heavy duty pressure plate for about a yr. its held up fine and will soon be put to use with boost.
