Default 03 accord dash illumination problems???

Hi, I have a 2003 Accord EX Coupe 5spd. I have a problem with my dash illumination on the stock radio/AC controls. When you flick on your headlights the clock should get brighter and the red illumination on the dash will light up. I thought it might be when I got my system put in(including aftermarket head unit which is installed in the lower DIN) but when I came by forums before it seemed like my situation wasnt an isolated problem. There seeemd to be many other people who've experienced similar problem with their illumination who did not have a system installed and may be a part recall problem. I actually remember being directed toward a link where it showed in detail the part that causes this problem. It's been so long so i dont remember now. Ive had this problem for a while now, about a year, and Ive managed to live with it but I just wanted to get it fixed for good before my warranty runs out. Thanks for any help!!

yeah just go get it fixed at the dealership since you have your warranty. Do it quickly before your warranty runs out cuz you'll regret it when you're gonna have to pay when you coulda had it for free.

it seems weird since you say its a problem that occurs to some others. I would guess it could be draining your battery if it has to do with the aftermarket system. By the way, do you have subs?

maybe you're draining the battery...you got a capacitor to support the subs?

Maybe the stock head unit was bad out of the boxed, not
unheard of since they are remans rather then new anyway.

oh... well i forgot to point out that the radio and aC worked fine.. its just the illumination.. when i took it the first time they just replaced the Head Unit with a brand new one.. When I got my car back everything was exactly the same.. maybe the plastic on the display was a little bit shinier.. however the illumination never came back.. Thats when i went back and they said it probably has to do with my aftermarket head unit.. i think i must emphasize.. the illumination im talking about is the buttons around the clock display that say 'CD/AUX' etc etc.. All those buttons on the dash are SUPPOSED to light up red when u flick on your headlights.. However mine does not work. Does anybody know where the problem lies or knows of anyone who has had the same problem?? Thanks
