Default Disassemble power antenna assembly

95 Accord EX. Bought a new mast and am following install instructions at www.antennamastsrus.com. The old antenna won't retract and when I removed it, I saw that the plastic cord was broken. So I have to open the drum assembly to remove the remaining plastic cord and re-grease before installing. I am now removing the entire assembly: took out the trunk panels, the screw that holds the antenna assembly, the black antenna cable and the gray power connector.

What is that clear plastic hose firmly connected to the base of the assembly? It's about 1/4-inch in diameter and about 4 inches long. It's the one thing left that's keeping me from taking out the power antenna assembly. It's tough to just yank out and I'm afraid I might damage it or the larger black hose it seems to be attached to at the other end.

Any suggestionis will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Are you sure the cord was broken? I thought the same thing when I replaced mine but it was actually stuck up in the mast itself since it also wasn't retracting. Did you try to install the new mast yet?

Went ahead and pulled the small hose out of the large hose--no big deal after all--and removed the entire assembly. Yes, there was about 7 inches of broken cord left in the drum when I opened it. Cleaned out the drum and put in some new grease, re-assembled the unit and put in the new mast. That was the easy part. Getting the short outer grounding/retaining sleeve to fit into the vertical base tube was the challenge. But patience prevailed. Turned the radio on and off several times, each time nudging the sleeve (with a lot of controlled pressure) into the tube until it was all the way in. Easier to do with the assembly out in the trunk with only the gray power connector attached.

If you are talking about that little plastic tubing that just kind of hangs there (at least my does) I think its for draining excess water.

Figured that hose was some kind of drain. Found a lot of what looked like dried grease flakes in it.
