Default round versus square timin belt teeth...

Anyone every experienced noise after a timing belt job from using a non oem belt with round teeth versus square ones that are cut for the honda belts? I have been told that it will go away after a few 1000's miles and is common but i want to check.

The symtom is a higher pitched whine coming off the engine at idle sounds sorta like a go cart a little... but the car runs perfectly the rest of the time.... perfectly no power loss etc...

What do you guys think?

I got my timingbelt changed, and it sounds like a whistle above 3200rpms. I got my timingbelt changed about 2 months ago, and i put well over 4000 miles on it and the sound is still there.

oh and this is probably gonna be the last message i post because of the count, later H-A-N

I haven't had any experience with the round vs. square teeth thing. However, the first time I had my timing belt changed, I took it to a hole in the wall operation. I brought OEM Honda belts to them to use; but the first time I went to picked up my car from them, it was making all kinds of squealing noises, etc. As it turns out it was related to how they had mounted the belt. I had to take it back and have them redo it.

Let the dealer do timing belt jobs and use OEM parts. Generally, the dealer refuses to use anything else so it's just a better deal all the way around.

A whining sound coming from the belt, usually indicates the belt is too tight. Despite the auto spring-tensioners the Accords have, it's still possible to overtighten the belt.

Also theres a bearing in the tensioner that can go bad. I just had mine done, and 1 out of the 2 was bad. It makes a whizzing sound at high rpms. I betcha they never checked or replaced yours when they did the job.
