Default rotor/hub

92 coupe

do the hub and rotor have to be machine pressed together or can i do it myself with a little leverage? i've been going on hearsay and putting off getting new rotors because of this.

I think you're thinking of the wheel bearings...they have to be pressed into the hub I believe on most cars. The rotor just comes off, just like the calipers.

somewhere somebody got confused, second hand information is funny like that. i was told that the hub and rotor were pressed together, which sounded kind of odd but i haven't tried changing them so who was i to argue?
anyhow, thanks

Well the first info you got was correct, on 4th and 5th gen Accords, the rotor is basically trapped inside the hub which is pressed on. Sometimes called "hub over rotor" design. So because a stupid design by Honda, it'll take you hours and is generally a huge pain the ass compared to an easy job on the 6th gen (like 98CoupeV6 and I have where the rotor is outside the hub ("rotor over hub" design).

There are some DIY out there I think somewhere on the board. You'll have to either use a press or hammer back in the wheel bearing onto the hub when you put it all back together, etc...lots of PITA stuff.

Check out this pic if that link doesn't work:

i believe you buy longer bolts and when you drill them(not drill buy screw them in evenly) in, they press on the hub assembly and it should "walk out"...there's a DIY on it. lemme see if i can find it, cb7tuner is down

i just changed mine sat-tuesday... yes it took that long but i gid front and back

i have a 93 ex coupe they are bitches, i had to order 12 diffrent bolts from honda cause mine where so rusted.. and yes they are pressed
you have to take caliper off and (some recomend removing CVjoint from hub because you will be removing the spines it sits in .. i removed mine becaause i was replacuing them while i was at it, once that was done i stared to wedge shit in to pull rotor/ hub from bearing, after about and hour it came off. its a bitch, i cursed that car for days

if your using Haynes manual, which it sounds like cause it told me to do same things, throw it in the garbage. its a peice of shit, i was removing shit that never had anything to do with rotors

and GL

man, i was going to do this at home but if it's going to take all this i'll just hold off on it a little bit and drive to the shop my uncle works at. i'm sure his knowledge (and by knowledge i mean access to a lift and tools) will help a good bit.

i've got to pull the axle on the drivers side anyway because it's bad so thats no problem.

yeah i went and bought a haynes earlier ive got a helms but it's on here and that won't do me a whole lot of good when i'm under the car.

i had to go the walk out way to replace a wheel stud a little while back, saved me a shitload of money.

great info, thanks guys.
