I use K&N oil filter with M1. Honda oil filters are fram. www.bobistheoilguy.com

The internals are crapp. Fram sacrificed quality for increased volume, and profits a looong time ago. Alot of generic filters are frams with a different paint job.

oil filter

The Genuine Honda Oil filter, part # 15400-PLM-A01 is made by Filtech, the company that has been making them for a while now, part number 15400-PLM-A02 is made by Fram. I stay away from the A02's and only use the Filtech's. I order them online from H&A Accessories. Here is a pic they had posted a while back comparing the Filtech oil filter to the Fram filter.
