Take off the sail panel and unscrew it from the inside.

You actually also have to remove the door panel on sedans to unplug the old wire and plug in the new one. On my buddy's older generation 94 the plug was inside the "sail panel" that 98CoupeV6 mentioned you need to remove.

And removing the door panel takes more time than the mirror itself. I guess you could try pulling the wire up, but you might have to take the door panel off. To do that see below:

Well technically you do, but all you really have to do is remove the plastic tap screw below the sail panel to gain a tiny bit of access to the area, right?

The problem is that the door panels have a positive vertical engagement with the top of the door where the glass comes out. So while releasing that plastic screw is part of removing the door panel, removing it alone won't let you pull the door panel back. You gotta release all the clips, and then slide the door panel up to get it off.

I've taken the door panels off my car before and I can say there is no way to access the plug on my car without removing the panel (which isn't that hard).

It's dumb...the 5th gens are much more logical with the plug being accessable from the triangular panel. Oh well, at least we don't have the hub-over-brake rotor design that the 5th gen Accords have...now that is a horrible design.

I think I've taken my door panels off too many times and broken something anyway...all I have to do now is remove the clip, remove the two screws, and push north and the whole thing just about throws itself at me. It doesn't hold on the bottom and sides like it used to h:
