The problem is that the door panels have a positive vertical engagement with the top of the door where the glass comes out. So while releasing that plastic screw is part of removing the door panel, removing it alone won't let you pull the door panel back. You gotta release all the clips, and then slide the door panel up to get it off.
I think I've taken my door panels off too many times and broken something anyway...all I have to do now is remove the clip, remove the two screws, and push north and the whole thing just about throws itself at me. It doesn't hold on the bottom and sides like it used to
