Default VTEC conversion

hello folks.........I am would like to swap my stock f22b2 SOHC non VTEC head on my 95 LX, for an f22b1 SOHC VTEC head, or maybe even an h22 head. please enlighten me as to any differences between the f22b2 block, and te f22b1/ h22 blocks........how hard would this swap be? any secrets i should know? i heard something about a difference in oil passages..........? what else would i have to change modify? what about the intake manifold?

i would appreciate any information or experience that you guys could share with me..........

well its illegal to do that in cali. But if you dont care about that, you can swap it with a h22 head and gain about 50whp/50tq. The head line up pretty well, but youll need to honda bond a few things. IF you do a search on google for "H22 head on f22 bottum" you'll find a 40 thread post about people that are doing it. And one person posted a parts list somewhere in there so you know what to get.

is what he is refering to above.

Really, the F22B1 SOHC head swap isn't worth it unless you're basically given the parts to do it....and I do mean, given. You'll need the header, the intake manifold, the head, and a host of other things. The head lines up right, and I think all you need to do is block one coolant passage and you're good.

If you don't have a ton of work in the car stop d1cking around with this swap sh1t, sell the car and buy one with a real engine.

Doing a full blown swap on a car with rims and a new Sony CD player is just stupid...
Get a better resale from your stock car and find an older clean H22 Lude or something.

Just my 2 cents.

I was itching to do the hybrid, but im going turbo instead because of the legality of head swaps in cali. Plus a turbo is faster then both, hands down

the f22 b2 to b1 swap is a cake walk.. all thats needed is one wire from the new ecu you'll have to get off an ex model and a vtec intake gasket.. everything else bolts right up.. i did this swap this last weekend and it was easy.. i just have my vtec on a 12v switch till i can find a 97 ex ecu.. then it will be all comp controlled. any one know where i can find the damn ecu? also i am going to be running a turbonetics t304 hybrid with 40 shot courtesy of zex.. hope the shit holds together.. he he
