Default '90 Accord trouble Code 20/ charging problem

My '90 Accord has been having charging system issues. After 3 or so days the car won't start and the battery needs recharging. After a charge the battery voltage reads 12.5 volts. After started, there's 14.5 volts at the battery and it appears to be charging even when the lights and accessories are on. After about a day of normal driving, the battery light comes on and shortly thereafter, dead battery. Did a diagnostic check and found a code 20, ELD "failure". Also did a volt check at the ELD connector and found about 0.5 volts as opposed to the 2.0 volts required. Can't find any info as what to do next except " sensor circuit bad or sensor disconnected". Has anyone experienced similiar Honda issues??

I am fairly new to Hondas...what is ELD. Sounds like you have a battery drain. You know how to use a DVOM to check for a draw? I would do that first, and check amperage output at the alternator as well as diode health if you have the proper equipment.

ELD is the electrical load detector. It measures electrical load so the ECU can control the alternator & the idle speed. At least on the car's I've owned, the ELD is built into the under-hood fusebox, so if it's bad you have to replace the fusebox. But check the ELD wiring from the fusebox to the ECU. Don't buy a new fusebox if the real problem is a broken wire.
