Default CD info display in 2004 accord

I have a 2004 v6 EX w/ Navi and it seems to me that with everything this car can do that when I put a cd in the changer that the artist and name would come up on the display. I've tried regular store bought cds and cds that I've burned and no info is displayed. Can the stereo show this info? Anyone know?

My iTunes software at home does this but it requires info from CDDbase I'm not sure your Accord can do that....I've never seen any CD player do that unless you manual tell it what the CD is.

No, in general only MP3 players or digital music players will do that. If you buy the accessory Honda MP3 player and play MP3 CDs it probably will.

Its called CD Text. Some cds have it, some dont. If you burn a cd you have to make sure the option is checked to burn the text info, otherwise it wont work. The accord cd player should be able to display the info, most modern players do. I would suggest reading the manual, Honda will tell you if it is supposed to read CD Text or not.

My pioneer does that for only burned CD's.

But with real CD's it shows no info.

Very few real CDs have CDText burned into them, why? I don't know, it's kind of a mystery.

the Honda cd player will NOT display CD Text info, OR MP3 info... weather its on the CD or not. Only numerical information will be displayed (track number, time, folder number, etc.)

actually he has a navi unit, which has an audio menu that displays the names of the artist and the title of the song as well as the track number and time.

dms1973, actually the main purpose of that feature (names, title, etc.) was based around XM satelite radio. which i believe you had a 3 months free trial, and with XM it definately told you every song title, and artist. like others said, some cd's are burt with cd text so it will display on your unit. some cd's don't have the nice feature....

I thought it might do it for cds in addition to XM. I was driving a friends 04 Ford minivan and the display in his van showed the cd info. I hoped that my Honda could do what a Ford could. Oh well. :-)

On another note has anyone heard of the new product from Monster Cable called the iCruze? It is supposed to link an iPod to your car stereo so that song info shows on the display and you can use the stock stereo and steering wheel buttons to navigate. Its due out next month.
