Default 93 accord rough idle

Hi,
I just bought this car for a good deal, but (there is always a but) it has a rough idle, by this i mean that when i start it you can feel the engine's vibration in the seat, whole car seems to jump a bit, as soon as i press the gas it's perfect, only on the low idle (fast idle when cold is good), I can see the tach moving up and down a bit also when it jumps. It never stalls, simply jumps. Does anyone have a clue as to what it can be ? I don't want to end up paying hundreds on labor and in the end find out that a wire was not plugged or smth. THankx

Default vaccum leak

attach a vaccum guage, check for leaks, pcv etc. Definately sounds like its something easily fixable. Also could try something that cleans the intake etc. Seafoam, bg44k etc etc. Do a search there was a rather extensive thread on seafoam.

If its new, and the oil looks dirty might not be a bad idea to change that, plugs, and rotor etc.

Congrats on the deal, and welcome.

I already replaced the pcv valve it was worn and the little ball inside seemed to be stickey, the worse is that the pipe connecting it had no clamps, it fell into my hands, was sooooo loose, i fixed that but problem still is. I'm thinking of the IACV but i have no idea how to clean it and where it is. Anyone can help?

My '92 Accord LX has the same issue and has had the same issue since I bought it in June of '99. I've had valve jobs done. I've had a motor vac done. I've had a compression test done. I used high octane gas. I've used fuel system cleaner. New spark plugs. New distributor. New wiring harness.

I don't know what else to have done on it and I still have the rough idle. It seems like the RPM when idling (worse when she's in gear) is too low because, as the original poster said, once you step on the gas it smooths right out.

I don't have the jumping RPMs though. It happened once a month or so ago, and never happened again.

I'm experiencing the EXACT same thing with my '96 ACcord V6. Rough idle and jumping RPM meter twice in the past month. All this started only 3 weeks ago too. In the past 8 months Ive gotten the spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotors, throttle body cleaned, used supreme gas, techron additives, engine mounts checked. I'm running out of things to do..

Mine started doing that when she was warmed up, a 1/3 can of Seafoam engine treatment through a vacuum tube did the trick. And 1/3 in the crankcase and 1/3 in the gas tank. Smoothed her right out. And I also cleaned out the TB while I was there.

Advance auto parts, NAPA...call around.

Just find a vacuum hose that goes out of your intake manifold and suck it in through there. You can use the hose that goes to your PCV valve, brake booster, etc.
