Default help me out here

i got a 97 honda accord and its modded, but not heavily and my damn automatic transmission went out(no reverse) . the dude told me it'd be about 1000 to get a new one installed. i asked him about a tranny swap and he said 2,200 im tired of the slushbox anyway so what i wanna know is what are most of the advantages of having a five-speed over an automatic?

Well the advantages are all the common sensical ones you can think of...better control, better gas mileage, more fun, etc etc. It's personal preference.

$1000 is awfully high...I got mine installed for around $900 and my tranny has very high demand on it. I'd expect you could get a new automatic put in for around 550 or 600.

I love stick.. to me, it's like your driving the car.. insted of just sitting in the seat pressing the gas and stuff, but just get a manual swap, it will make you more happy

Yeah. It really sucks, but I bought the car from my dad so I know where she's been. I've been washing her for the past 5 years. It's a good highway car, that's about it.All 6th gen Accord V6s had automatics. If I had a 6 speed my car would be much, much more fun and more economical but it would cost me many thousands.

1,000 to get a new one install? or that is including a new tranny. my friend here n nyc got a brand new transmission with warranty and including labor for $2000 for a manual transmission 96 accord coupe. if u search here u will find a post that some guy did his for about $500-600 convert to manual that is labor only. when my transmission gives up i will convert to manual if i dont get a new accord v6 manual coupe. huge diff n manual vs auto when it comes to power, but since i live 700hrs a month n traffic auto is a good thing.
