Tranny, is this normal?
Hello,
I have only had my accord for about a month now. I have been reading the post about the transmissions. I wanted to know if when from a standstill, is it normal for the car to take some time to shift into the next gear? I am coming out of driving a v8 mercedes 400E (dont ask) to the v6 accord, so I am just trying to see what's what. I was driving for a while a 90 accord 4dr manual and it appeared to have more"pep" than the accord and I was wondering if I unknowingly have a transmission issue. I mean should'nt my v6 be more spirited than a '90 stick? I know it has nothing on the 400E which is car a was meant for a 6, but has the same 8 as the S Class which is larger and heavier.
Any insight from you young knowledgable car enthusiasts would be helpful. I love the lines and styling. It just seems to be a car that revs high, but does not move relative to the "sound" it makes. If that makes any sense. Here is an example. When you drive a stick, the car revs up to a certain point and you shift. My car seems to stay or stick in that gear first gear in what seems to be a little long to me. I may be wrong.
Anyway, let me know what you guys think.

If Im not mistaken Honda has issued a recall for all its V6 automatic transmission applications my wife has a 2000 TL and Honda installed a jet kit that supplies oil over to the 2nd gear under warranty contact the dealer for info.
my tranny is giving me some problems lately too. it's never done this before ...
on cold starts, my tranny doesn't shift out of 2nd gear. i'll be at 3K or 4K and it just sits there and won't shift.
