Default 00 intake

i was wondering, i live in northern virginia, cold weather is moving in right about now, and we might get 2 bouts of rain a week, i was trying to figure out, would a S.R.I. or a C.A.I. work better for me, and what would produce the most gains. thanx in advance

CAI would give you a little bit more power, and it's usually ok in the rain, just don't drive through huge puddles. Look at the area you drive everyday and see if there is a lot of high standing water after it rains. You just have to be careful with the CAI and you should be fine. CAI = more risk and more power, SRI = less risk and less power. But really it's not that much power either way when you look at it. You'll notice more torque, but not so much horsepower. It makes the engine sound better though.

hydrolock, basically your engine clogging up with water.

An overpriced intake that does just about the same as the CAI IMO. Stick with the AEM SRI or CAI

go with the AEM SRI. it's more of an investment than anything. being able to reuse filters and avoiding $15.00 for a new air filter ever few oil changes really adds up. i got mine within a week of getting my car. i clean the filter 2 times a year and everything has more than paid for it's self.

don't believe the hype. SRI's generate only 2hp gains, CAI's generate 5hp if you're lucky. fighting for small HP gains is pretty pointless when you could achieve the same acceleration results by properly inflating your tires.

I'd get a CAI, you'll be allright without a bypass valve, that is, if you don't plan on fording lakes and the like. But if you want peace of mind, get the valve.

I've been running a CAI with a drop for a couple of years now with no problem. if you drive with any common sense you'll be fine. if you see a puddle, don't go thru it. if you do that, you'll never hydrolock your engine.
