Default So here we go...

Tranny fun. I was driving on the interstate going to tallahassee, tranny starts flipping out on me around gainesville (horrible town). At first the tachometer was goin crazy, then it kept switchin between gears, and finally when i got off the interstate it started makin this loud groaning noise when i was at a complete stop at a red light. Something was rubbing or grinding, and it was loud. I stopped the car, towed it back with my dad's F-150, and dropped it at a tranny shop.

They said 1600 to rebuild. Simple as that. Car's only worth 2k at most (body damage) so I promptly said, "the hell with that." I got the keys, and i drove it back, however i got none of the problems i was having before.

I'm thinking fluid/ filter change, sometimes that clears up funny problems.

Ideas? Questions? Advice?

Thx guys.

If its a 5th generation have someone verify the speed sensor is not messed up. With an AT car a bad speed sensor will cause the problems you mentioned and cause the car to switch in and out of gears.

I am hearing more and more stories of 5th gen Accords with speed sensor problems. I really think Honda should do this as a recall, I have a 5th gen Accord myself that has a faulty speed sensor and numerous calls to Honda have yielded nothing.

If my VSS is going to go out, I hope it does before I hit 150k miles (20k more miles) so Honda picks up the tab...

i've heard alot about this damn speed sensor. anyone have a DIY or a picture of where this sensor is at? I'm gonna find a used tranny, replace that sensor, throw it all in my car and sell it. I luv my 4th gen accord, but it's too old and I don't have the technical ability to do the major work myself. It's just become too expensive. I'll get a later model honda. 2000 maybe...ya....no v6 though. V6 tranny's are garbage from what i hear.
