Default Euro spec Accord 98-02?

Hi all, this is my first post here, hope i'd be welcomed.

I've been having a question on my mind lately, and it is if the 98-02 Euro spec Accords were made along with the US specs in OHIO, or if they were made in japan. also i'd like to know what difference are there between the Euro,US and JDM specs for this car.

thanks a lot.

close

The Accord Type-R (Accord Euro-R in JDM land) are equipped with the JDM Prelude Type-S Motor (JDM H22A Type-S w/220hp)

the 6gen Accords (98-02) in America use the F23A motors

the euro accords are much smaller then the usdm 6thgens. they were equipped with 1.6l engines and higher displacements were an option. I don't know where they were produced, but they would require a different assembly line then the usdm ones (IMO). The type-r probably has a different history then the regular accords.

Welcome to the forums... this is my first post since like 4 months

From what i can see now. the Honda inspire (accord in the usa) is made in japan, yet the same car with the steering wheel on the opposite side is made in Ohio.
And the USA market dosent get a REAL honda accord, even the acura is an inspire with accord front headlights (correct me if i am wrong pls)
Our Middle-East specs follow those of the USA (we get the left hand inspire badged as accord) therefore i guess the 98-02 accords were made in the usa. We dont have the accord which is sold in europe and japan.
anyone got more info?

The Honda Inspire has the USDM TSX Interior, while the JDM/Euro Accords have the USDM Accord Interior. Yet the TSX is actually the closest accord that we can get our hands on, they decided to swap out the interiors. Kinda confusing huh? Plus the USDM TSX/Accord(4cylinder) have the K24A motor.

Only the 98-00 Euro-market Coupes were made in Ohio, in Marysville.
You can sorce the headlights from UK to make a UKDM conversion, but it's so pricey you might as well do HID.

The Sedans were originally made in Swindell UK I believe, completely different. Shortly after '00 year I think they stopped making the coupe for the UK (Europe).

The coupes came with the 3.0 V6 or a unique for Europe 2.0 liter F-series with Vtec, it made about the same HP as the US I think but it made much less torque.
It wasn't a huge deal the F23A in the US was more then acceptable for our crappy gas.

Besides headlight washers and a few small things the coupes were identical, they even got the same body kit.

Thanks a lot for the information, out of all japanese car manufacturers, it seems that Honda uses the most confusing system for marketing cars in differents places.

AznMA007: do you know if the TSX and US. accord are built on the same platform?

also is there any way to know where the car has been built from the VIN.

regards
