did you just give him them 'M98X.....' code and they gave it to you right away?

There might be a number in the trunk. Give it to a guy at the Honda dealership and he should be able to get your code number. Happened to my mom's car a day or two ago. Serial number is what they need.

This EXACT same thing happened to me. Take out your radio (so they dont charge you, and so they can get the actual code off the radio to look up the anti-theft code) goto honda, and tell them you have a used car (i also have a used car, and they still gave me the code for free) and your battery died, and you need the code to gain access to your radio again. They will give you the code for free.

is the serial number in the M98xetc format or is it like xx-xx-xxx-xx, etc..?

It's on the top with a white sticker (I think). It's the one that looks like a serial number. Just give them your VIN and they can find it dude.

HELP!!!! I stripped the screws while trying to take my stereo out! im F-U-C-K-E-D! are you sure they can get you the code just from your VIN number?

okay, went to a different honda dealership during lunch and they helped me out. got me the code for free, i have music now! woohoo!! Thanks for the help everyone!

Screw them. They're trying to charge you money for something that takes 2 mins to look up on a computer. I called my service manager, told him what happened, told him the serial # on the head unit (naturally I couldnt tell him my VIN) and he called back 2 mins later with the code. Remember to write it down and keep it in your glove box It feels good to punch that little code in then hear it beep.
