Default Used Tranny

I saw a place that sells trannys for my car. It has 40k on it and the guys is willing to let it go for 1,500 give or take a couple of bucks. I thought about buying it and getting the 3year warrenty or should I just get it and use it to fix my 98 Accord and trade it in and get a 03? My 98 is already paid for and I really don't want to go back in debt, but I also don't want to get stuck with a broken car. HELP/ADVISE

If you still have factory warrenty... go to Honda Dealer for repair..
or buy the Used trans... and get 3 year warrenty...

$1500 for just the tranny is waaaaaaaaaaay too high... and if it was an F-series, it should be worth even less.

hmm i havent kept an eye out much for it.... but the ballpark figures for comparable things I've seen are ~$300 for an 4th gen h23a tranny, ~$600 for 4th gen h22a, and considering a full jdm h22a swap w/ tranny and all that has mileage comparable to that tranny you are looking at ~$2200-2500, the price seems a bit high.
