Default ulev cat converter

Is the catalytic converter for the ulev accord and the lev accord different? If I used an lev cat in a ulev car would it cause any problems? I have a 98 accord ulev and the cat is from a 00 accord.

It shouldn't as I just bought a replacement from www.hondapartspro.com for about $110 (they charged eBay shipping rates!! $35!!), they stated it was for all models of the I4. On my order sheet it said "Sedan", so I called to confirm it would work for a Coupe and they said yup all models. It's got the bunghole for the O2 sensor, etc. I don't believe, however, that it's an authentic Honda OEM part, but I don't care. $150 vs $350.

I think the only difference between the Ulevs and the LEVs is the restriction of the exhaust manifold. Everything else should be the same unless one was a DX motor.

Um, you may want to check with the dealer first on that one! I'm currently dealing with that same issue! I need a ULEV Cat (price = $1500) for my ULEV 2000 Accord LX. Everyone keeps telling me that the LEV or whatever is not compatible with mine.

Matter of fact, I found your post by doing a search to find a better solution.
It sucks though man...

I agree with 2Kaccord....I've heard that the manifold is different between the ulev and lev motors.

I got a response that suggested that I use a hi-flow Cat.... I talked to a mech about it, and he told me that even if was able to find one it may just work fine for a short period of time.... but eventually I would get a check engine light because the computer wouldn't read something right or whatever.

Man, I'm feeling real ignorant on this subject!!!! I know that there has GOT to be a less expensive solution to this friggin' CAT problem! It's just a catalytic converter! Not a transmission!!!!!!!!

a hi -flow cat has no restrictions. Meaning the exhaust fumes will flow right through.
Sort of like when your muffler falls off the highway and you get that nasty exhaust tone.

One thing, depending on your state, chances are all of them. You will not pass emissions because more junk is coming out of the exhaust.

If that is the case... what would be the point of the cat at all? I'm assuming that there is more to it than that.

But anyway, all I know is that there is apparently an O2 sensor in the/my ULEV cat. con.

If you not concerned about emissions then just get a high flow aftermarket cat. If you need too I would get the cheaper LEV cat. Im 99.9% it will bolt up the same.
