Default Weird Behavior...

my car: 95 accord ex, 2.2L vtec, sedan, manual tranny

for months now, the car would intermittently not start. doesn't matter if it's cold or warm. i hear just one click when i turn the ignition on. i figured the starter is on its way out. but then it got weird...

one day i was able to start the car with no problems but the engine didn't sound right...higher pitch than usual. i didnt pay much attention to it coz i figured it just needed some time to warm up. but then the radiator fan would go on and off for every couple of seconds...and in sync with the ABS light on my dash also going on and off every couple of secs. of course, this got me worried so i immediately turned off the ignition and pulled the key out....but the engine was still cranking slowly for at least 5 seconds without the key in the ignition!

can someone pls enlighten me with what could be happening?

Yea it's the starter. Same thing happen ot me. I didn't have the money for a new one so I just fixed the old one. It was a bitch but I saved myself some money. But as for the ABS light and stuff, that is some new stuff to me.

well it's friking crazy how many things are tied together on the vtecs. Personally I think there should be a whole book written just to explain the sensors. But that's a different thing.
I'd say it's gotta be the starter also. But I have no idea about ABS.......

someone i know told me i only need to replace the starter contact. i called the nearest dealership and the guy doesn't know what that is. i searched the net but i can not find anything for my 95 accord...i found a lot for 93 and earlier models. is the starter on my 95 accord built so that i can only replace the whole starter and not individual parts?

My 98 Acura starter wouldn't stop cranking - starter just kept cranking even with the key off!
Turns out I had to replace the starter. Big bucks.

well, finally bought the starter contacts for $35....had to go get 'em from a toyota dealership...of all places i had to compare with all they had in stock to find the right one, though. the honda dealerships in my area don't sell the contacts by themselves. anyway, it starts with no problems now. that abs problem hasn't shown up in a while now either. so i dunno if it's even related to the starter or not. im just glad i didnt have to spend more $$ to buy the whole starter
