Default 1996 Accord AEM CAI help

I just bought an AEM CAI and I plan on installing it tomorrow. When I got everything out, I am missing the " Vacuum hose filter" Part # 21-300. Has anyone done this install, and how important is that part. It said in the instructions, it is for the VTEC system, which I have.

I think some people just put a piece of soft foamy sponge in there. Search around and I'm sure you'll find an answer. There was a thread just recently on this.

It said in the instructions that it was for the VTEC. It said that it wasn't used on a non-VTEC car. IS that was your guys have? I just don't want to go through and install it to find out I need that piece, and can' drive my car... Any help is greatly appreciated

You guys were right about the filter...didn't need it at all. You wonder why they even have you go through the trouble...
