Default Slight idle issues

4th gen LX, when idling in drive my RPMs are 500, sometimes even 400, and is very rough. this is entirely too low. should be about 700-800 right? Also when ever I change from like drive to reverse or vis versa, the RPM's dive below 300, to near stall out levels. Couple times i've had to hit the gas to keep from doin this. I'm gonna check out my intake tomorrow, perhaps IAC valve issues. Anything else I should check?

500 is about normal...you could adjust the idle to be higher, your rough idle, however sounds like it might be time for a tune up, be sure to check your fuel filter and pcv valve

pcv valve = the one that connects to the top of the valve cover right?

I forgot to mention that when i first start the car it idles at 1500 for about 3 minutes or so, then comes down after the engine warms up.

i have no doubt that my fuel filter is probably focked too. I've never had it done since i got the car, and i have sucked from the very bottom of my fuel tank on many occasions. Likely it is quite disgusting.

That's what normally happens when a car first starts, and the normal idle level is aroung 700-800 after it has ran for a few minutes. A tune- up sounds like a good idea if you haven't done it in a while. If need be adjust the idle switch, but first go with the tune- up.
