i just got rear-ended this morning.... nothing too bad tho.... the lady has talked to her agent and she says she wants to settle it herself..... i was wondering if i would get more money from the insurance or from her... and i would prefer to get money than to get my bumper fixed....

If you know anyone that has an autobody shop and they deal directly with insurance companies I would have them fix it.

Insurance will give one estimate and the auto shop will give another.
Insurance companies dont go by the original price of what the part costs.

Trust me I got rear ended, damage doesnt look that much.
Insurance paid me 801.00.
Took my ride to the body shop actual damage 1200+.

So at the end 400 bucks more will come out of my pocket.
..Definitely go through insurance if you want more money.

You can get money from the insurance and not have to get it fixed by a shop. I know someone who got his car smacked up pretty bad, the insurance gave him 3k, and he got the body parts and in a month was able to do the work all on his own. It only cost him 1200...Big profit...

it seems that most insurance companies here do not cut a check out to the "insured party"... most of them pay directly to the bodyshop... reason y i'm not wanting to repaint it here is becos i'm moving out to california in a few months, and also becos the bodyshops here suck sooo bad....

is there any way i can make the insurance pay me instead of to the shop?

 

sure, take it to a place like the "deaker" would b best, they will give u an estimate for free and call the insurance who is going to fix the car and tell them u got an estimate and u show them the proof or u can do like i did when i got hit n front while my car was park and me having coffee next to my car outside. i went to a shop and spoke to the mechanic that does the work n my car and call the insurance of the other driver and tell them where my car is and to send a agent to see my car and when the agent shows up the shop will get an high estimated and a bunch of bull shit and give it to the agent and thats what u get, in my case i gave my mechanic $200 so he can take care the agent when he sees the car, like take him to breadfast etc...
anyway at the end my mechanic got $2950 to be exact from the insurance. is all about what the agent says and what the shop shows n printout. but remember alll this thing will b in the record of the car, so if i sell my car and the buyers looks up my record of my baby, he/she will see like 5 pages of shit that happen and mostly is fake but hey money talks. and one important thing, i dont know if u can since u got hit n the back, but n my case i got hit n front and i drove home to the shop and left my car park there and told the insurance that the car wont run and i had it towed lol the machanic did made sure he disconnect a bunch of stuff just n case the agent try to run it.
btw i pay $500 to fix everything. i had my aftermark headlight and just got one small scratch. got new bumper and hood and painted plus they pull the frame of the car n front. funny thing my friends 2door accord look like chit but with nice drop until the other night this drunk guy scratch the car while park n the driver side a little, lucky enough we were there to get him and what! now he got brand new paint job free. free cause the car already was fugly need new paint job bad. i will take some pics soon of his car and mines but i waiting for something





why is it when the black female cop aproach my car she ask the van n front of me that hit me, what happen? the van had zero damage u know that metal bumper n the back. while my car had hood n the windshield bumper n the floor and fans touching something making noise and oh yeah the black driver told the black cop he was n the cell phone thats why he didnt know there was someone park behind him. this is 5th avenue. cell is illegal unless u have earphone which he didnt, he got no ticket for that and no ticket for being parked illegal, he didnt feed the meter. damn wish i had a white cop to report the accident, i almost broke my window. i punch it so hard cause i got hit n front after a brand new bumper i had just installed that week. i think we deserve the xtra $$$

 

wow... u sure got a lot of money.... highest estimate i got around here was $741.00 to fix my bumper.... and all it has is one lil crack....

i was thinking of ditching the BW rear bumper and sideskirts in place of a lip kit... prob M3 sides and kaminari rear.... wat do u guys think??
