Default Spring Installation/spring compressor

I need help installing my springs. I am replacing my cheap coilovers with H&R springs. My question is, do I need a spring compressor to install my new springs? I did not need a compressor to unistall my coilover/kyb agx assembly, but now that I am putting lowering springs on, I could not get the assembly to fit back in. So if I use a spring compressor to compress the spring to make it the same size as the coilover, i would easily be able to fit it in and bolt it in. Is that correct...or is there an easier way to fit the bigger springs in without going out and getting a compressor.....I have never needed to use a spring compressor before, but now I am stuck with these springs! thanks

i doubt you do.. make sure you have a friend helping you.. the spring should touch the top mount and you'll probably have to push it down a little while your friend threads the nut in a little.. but i haven't had a need for spring compressor yet to install aftermarket springs..

Do I just bolt down the shock/spring down while the spring is compressed, then when I have it installed, I uncompress it? Is that how it works?

if you're working without a spring compressor, you can just thread the nut then uncompress it to focus your attention to tightening the nut. if you're using a spring compressor, go ahead and tighten the nut all the way before you uncompress it.

that's only if he had the oem springs on there.. but he mentioned that he has the coilover sleeves on there currently which is probably not even touching the top mount when it's fully extended...

Well I rented the spring compressor from autozone and I used it to install the rear springs....It was fairly easy, but I am having a problem with the front now. The spring compressor does not fit in between the coils, so I cannot compress it. I'm almost positive that I need to compress the springs because when I re-installed the coilover, it was so easy...it fit right in, but when I try to install the spring, I couldnt even come close to bolting it in. I think I am just gonna take it to a shop and have them do it along with an alignment.
