Timing Belt Change - 6th Gen
Is it fairly easy to change the timing belt in a 6th gen Accord EX with VTEC?
I see that the OEM part is $40 and that's a lot cheaper that going to the dealer to do it.
Has anyone done it? Anything that I need to know to look out for?

I don't think it's that easy...but who know others may have done it. Just keep in mind you may want to also do the water pump at the same time since you have to take everything off to access the timing belt. Good luck

By the way replacing the timing belt in my opinion is far from easy...
At this point after talking to a few people, I think I may just plunk the money down and go to the dealership.
I'm just going through a period where I am short on money, so I was just seeing if it was reasonably possible to save some money.
But maybe the hassle isn't worth it.
Thanks guys.

How many miles are you now at? Typically, Accords are stated to only need timing belt changes every 90k.
better go to the dealer thats something u dont want to install wrong plus u can always go back to the dealer if anything goes wrong. yeah do what they said ^^ change the entire package all at once.
Right now I have just over 68000 miles on the car. Problem is is that summer just hit in Arizona, and we've started to have days where it gets up to 111 - very suddenly in fact compared to previous years. My manual says that 60,000 miles is an interval on the car for changing the belt if the car is under heavy driving conditions, which now it is in Arizona. The previous owner lived in Kansas and only drove the car 50,000 miles over 5 years.
Just trying to be careful, you know?
