when you put on your 18s...acceleration?
For those of you with 18s on 6th gen 4 cylinders, how much acceleration did you lose like for example when you sped up on an overpass to get on to the freeway? I wanted 17s because I didn't want to hurt perforance to much since my car is slow already. I do a lot of freeway driving and always have to accelerate on to the freeway. I saw some 18s that were REALLY nice and I just fell in love with them.

Ive got 17's on my 5th gen 4 cyl, I didnt notice any acceleration difference when I put them on. If you're really worried about acceleration, get 17's with like a 225/45-17 tire. Either way you go, finding the lightest wheel possible will help... if you get heavy 17's you'll still be hurting your acceleration.

Its kinda hard to find "light" 18's... but some are pretty light...
sumaccord is right, i have Racing Hart C5s and man, my stock rims are heavy as CRAP!!!... dont worry man, i have a 1998 Accord 2dr(6th generation of yah don kno) I4... and i didnt lose any, and on turns i gained plenty.. =P i can turn like a mofo now. so get nicer quality wheels and u wont lose much or any, cuz u kno 18s even light wheels are still gonna be almost the same as ur I4 stock 15 inch rims, unless u got hubcaps, why is why many civics and integras go with those JDM tiny 15inch superlight wheels for racing, thus, if u get some cheap crappy one's... maybe alot heavier than stock, and u'll lose some-alot of acceleration

I just wanna make sure...
cryogen97 told me he was dropped around 3.5 and uses 225/40/18.
and he said he didnt rub at all with passenger on rear even without rolling the fenders.
how come 225/45 rub ?
it's the same width isn't it ?
18s slowed my acceleration down by quite a bit....its a really noticable difference whenever I change from stock steelies to 18s. Even modding in the performance category didn't help much to compensate for my heavy a s s rims. BTW, I didn't get the lightweight expensive kind, I saw a deal and jumped on it w/o thinking too much. The car handles a lot better and cornering is improved vastly. Oh yeah, I have a 6g I4 sedan non-vtec and in stock form it comes with 14" steelies...(maybe thats why I notice a big difference in acceleration

Even with all that said I'd still suggest that you get them. It'll make a world of difference in how your car looks.

If you're worried about weight, get some magnesium rims, some VOLK RACINGs, or even RACING HARTs.
Stock 16" alloy rim + tire = 40 lbs.
My 18" Tenzo P5 = 21 lbs.
My 18" tire weight = ?
anybody know what yours is?

A 225/45 tire may rub because the width is the same, but the thickness or profile of the tire is larger.
And if you accelerate on the freeway a lot, then 18's wont be too bad because most of the slowness of acceleration is from the initial motion of inertia that the wheel has to take. If you're accelerating from a roll, it won't lag as much (although it still will, it's probably unnoticible).
