Default Front Door Audio

Hey! I own a 92 4 drs EX-R Accord and I changed the front door speakers, When open the door pannel, there is a black plastic piece that goes around the 5 1/4 " speaker. I decided to put 6 1/2" speakers but they don't actually fit in the platic case. So I fixed them there without the plastic frame and it seems the sound quality is not that good. (Between I put Pioneer 6 1/2 " speakers so it's not the speakers are broken or anything.) Behind the speaker I fixed a light plastic to prevent the contact between the speaker and the water that stays on the window.

What I'm wondering about is : Are there any Accord or Acura cars that have 6 1/2 " speakers from origin!!???

I would use this car's plastic case so the sound quality would increase.

Thanks a lot
Martin!

yes, the 4th gen dx/lx models hold 6.5's (which is bullshit cuz ex/se should get 6.5's not 4's)
so pull a bracket of a lx/dx model or order a new one online for 3.88 at san leadro honda.

Yeah, I pulled some brackets for the 6 1/2s from an old DX in a junkyard. $5 total I think it was. Go search a junkyard or buy online and you'll be more than fine!

Yeah it's weird. Places like Tweeter, Best Buy, Circuit City all say that 4th gen. Accords all have 6.5" speakers. Even the manual says it too, but the factory speakers that are in our cars are actually closer to 6.25, because the same problem happend to me. I wound up using the black plastic to house the speaker but did not screw it on one of the screw holes, and then finessed it to sit well inside the frame without coming in contact with the window when it is slid down.

When I ran into this problem it was that the factory speakers were smaller than 6.5" that the specs. say that they are. I forget what the exact size of them were...

Yes they are smaller. My 6.5's didnt fit in the basket. So just have one screw holding them on.

6.5" 's won't fit perfectly (because they don't fit into the factory housing) but they can be installed if you don't try and screw in all the holes into the housing.
