Default 6th gen replacement AT's much better?

I just bought my first Accord (with my own $). '98 EX-V6 coupe, 68K. SOOO much nicer than my '92 Accord, the ac didn't work anymore, hard to shift out of park, very noticable shifting.

I read that lots of you have had problems with the AT in the 6th gen accords. Took mine out for a spin b/f buying, it shifted very smooth and quiet with no abruptness at all. After I got home and looked through the records given to me, I noticed that the whole tranny had been replaced by the dealer just 3K miles ago!

For people who have gotten it replaced, the replacement ones have not given you any problems like before?

I just found this forum yesterday, I wish I had sooner!

My tranny was having a problem recently. Was there a recall for it earlier? If so, then my new one is having problems, if there was no recall, then I'm running on the stock A/T, which is having problems.

probably could, but you would have to get a shifter installed inside and stuff (i'm also a n00b, so maybe there's something else that needs to be replaced as well)...oh, your ECU may need to be reprogrammed too?

no you can't do the swap, and the dealer won't do it for you! there have been 2 people who ahve done it, both on v6performance.net.

they have basically been the pioneers for this project. The first guy jimmyrecluse on that forum has it supercharged, with a cl-s 6spd tranny. there is far too much custom fabrication needed to get that job done. You need to custom some parts to get the tranny to work, even though it is a direct bolt on to the j30a1 motor.

it will cost a lot of money to do this swap. if you plan on doing it, have an open wallet and deep pockets!

if u have any more questions about the 6th gen MT swap, let me know

There are two manual trannies for that engine, from the 2004 CL-S and the 2003+ Accord V6 6-speed :slap: The problem is all the fabrication needed to fit these trannies in. They bolt on the engine perfectly.
