around here i think STis are more popular on the road too, but at the track it was like 5 evos to 1 STi. i'd still take an STi though, more power and i believe they are better built cars in general. regardless either car gets looks and are both sweet.
both the sti and evo's were built as track cars.. not really drag cars.. the evo is a few tenths slower than the sti in a 1/4 mile run, but the sti is behind the evo on track.. stock vs. stock..

at the open track challenge, the sti's were the ones that couldn't touch the evo's..

better built cars? there's a recall on the sti's because the engines are detonating..

yes it well known the evo is a better handling car. the evo is about 1 sec behind the STi in the 1/4 mile. the turbo lag is very bad, which is why my friend bought the STi. my other friend who is an avid autocrosser test drove both and did like the evo despite it's turbo lag. personally this is america, america is about hp and trq...give me an STi. i will never push the car to it's handling limits anyways, but i can always enjoy the power.

..and mitsubishi has problems too, they have to offer a 10yr/ 100k mile warrantee just to sell their cars and still nobody wants them which is why dodge is pulling out from them. besides Subaru fixed that problem a year ago for those people who experienced it. not all STis had the issue.

ahh.. but remember.. i said stock vs. stock.. my best friend wanted the sti and did a lot of research on it.. i wanted the evo so i did a lot of research on the evo.. eventually, my friend bought the evo..

i auto-x'd his evo.. horrible turbo lag.. but i also have another friend that has a fixed up evo.. with a few mods, turbo lag is virtually nil.. (insane acceleration).

if you don't want to spend money, an affordable reflash of the ecu will yield over 320 hp..

theoretically, with a 2.5l engine, the sti should be able to yield more power with mods.. but from last i looked, they haven't yet..

you're exaggerating right? The 7Gen Av6-speed are fast but they won't smoke anything out there, maybe ricers. They use the J30 motor running at 240HP and 212lb-ft of Torque. Their 0-60 is below the the 6.5 second range, which a DC5 Integra (or an RSX Type-S 6 Speed) can hit or if not faster, and its also cheaper than the AV6-Speed.

Which generation accord are you referring to? Only the pre-7Gen accord utilized the F-Series motors. The new 7Gens 4 Cylinders use the K series (K24s), same with the Acura TSX (the REAL accord).

Why is it so hard to comprehend that an RSX might be just as fast for slightly less money but is still far inferior! The Accord is ALOT more car. It has plenty of room for 4 and is well enough appointed to draw the comparison between itself and a full-luxury sedan in automobile magazine tests. The Accord is comfortable and sophisticated. In comparison, the excellent Acuras are just engines on wheels.
