All of those places will try and sucker you into things you dont need. When I had my old accord they tried to flush my radiator or sell my max life oil everytime I went in there. It goes from a $20 oil change to a $60 ordeal if your not careful. Now I do it on my own. Just learn how and youll save yourself a lot of hassle.
ya'll dont no wut jiffy uses?? is valvoline good?
if u do it at home...
dont u also have to like refill brake fluids and other stuff by urself too?
is doing it at home easy?
heat it up -> lift -> take old filter out? and drain oil out -> put new filter back in -> put oil in -> DONE?

But here's some quick answers:
Brake fluid doesn't really need regular filling. You can monitor the level, but seriously...adding brake fluid is as easy as putting gas in the car. You just don't want to spill any...it'll take paint off.
Other stuff like air filter, etc my wife could do.

Look in your owners manual to find out what items should be serviced and at what intervals.
You can take old oil to pretty much any auto parts store for disposal.
