Default Accord 2000LX - Replacing lightbulb on shifter

Would anyone be so kind to share how to replace the shifter lightbulb that luminates the gear letters between the driver and passanger seats on an Accord 2000 LX?

Someone told me that I could do so by removing the cupholder. Do you know if this true, and how one would go about removing the cupholder?

Thanks much,
Scott

remove the trim ring around the shifter assembly, it pops off.

Then, open the cup hold door and try pulling out the front then the back of the cup holder. Metal spring clips attach it to the black or woodgrain console panel.

Next pull out the top console panel mention above. It clips at the cubby tray, just aft of the shifter, and infront of the armrest console.

Once all these are out of the way you should be able to look around on the shifter for a blue or green slotted cap, These caps have the bulbs.

My service manuals in the car, but doing above will get you started.
I'm too lazy to go much past that.

www.helminc.com does offer the service manual for both 4 and 6 cyl Accords.

Just letting you know that I was successful in replacing the bulb. The information that was provided by MrChad was all I needed. As mentioned above the whole panel (including the cup holder) and trim around the shifter come off by polling it. I first started polling around the cup holder opening to get a better grip and loosen things up. Once these parts are removed, you will see a pair of wires going into the bulb sock it. You can remove the sock by twisting it 90 degrees and polling it out... Oh, the replacement bulb can be gotten from any honda dealer. It cost me ~$3.50.

Good luck, and thanks for the help MrChad!
