1. No oil leaks,
2. no oil consumption,
3. sips gas like a charm to the tune of 30+ mpg,
4. purs like a kitten in the drive,
5. cruises at 80mph on the expressway all day.
6. Always starts first try.
7. The VTEC is just advance enough and smooth enough to give the car a modern feel.
8. The ignition and spark plugs are low tech enough to be cheap as heck to replace.
9. She never leaves me stranded and rarely leaves me wanting.
10. Runs on regular gas...oh yah.

I love the venerable SOHC CAM Honda F-series!

Greatest car I've ever owned, but mines and 5-speed and it makes all the difference.
AMEN to that

backpressure does not = torque

I don't know, I think I have too much back pressure, I have a full catback and headers... My friend said I should have high back pressure and the way to reduce it is to tear out catalytic converter, should I do this? BTW I live in FL there are no inspections on vehicle exhausts and emission tests. (unless you are selling to a dealership). also I have a auto and its a 95 sohc vtec f22b1 i believe...

I think it was established that the smaller exhaust piping will flow the exhaust gases quicker then a large pipe at low rpm. So its not the backpressure but the ability for gases to flow quicker at low rpm through small pipes.

Love the F23A4 engine, yes, the low end torque is a bit weak, but as posters here have said, the 4500-6000 range rocks and the reliability and mileage are great as well, just did my 90k maintenance and the engine is still purring and very responsive, I can't detect any loss in compression yet at all.

Gotta agree with you. Everyone dogs on the F23 but with me, it's all about fuel/power ratio + reliability and with those factors, the F23 kicks ass.
