144k. My ****ing idiot mechanic put non-Honda ATF in it and didn't tell me when he changed the fluid about 6 months ago. I specifically told him Honda ATF, and I was looking at the bill yesterday and saw that he bought some valvoline or something like that ATF. I hope that isn't what's causing my problems.

Well, what do you want for a free ATF change. He was doing the timing belt anyway and he told me he'd do it for me.

I would get the fluid changed soon.... Honda ATF has something in it that supposedly coats the interior of the tranny, something other fluids lack...

Hmm, that would do it. Put the Honda atf in and see if it goes away. too bad you don't live around me, I think I have about three cases of the honda ATF in stock at my house. HA HA

So non-Honda ATF would likely cause slipping when the transmission makes its first one or two 1-2 shifts of the day and a noisy reverse synchro?

nah, not all that.. Also I don't think honda auto's have a reverse synchro dude...It's probably the reverse clutch or maybe the torque convertor making the noise.
