Ive helped friends install HIDs. We use nothing but 4100K and 4300k kits from Phillips or retro fit kits from OEM HID equipped cars. On some of the cars we retro fitted projectors as well. It makes the lighting much more sharper. Anything above 6000k and youre better off buying silverstars.

I have OEM Nissan HIDs in my accord, with Audi A6 projectors. I origionally had just the HIDs in my oem reflectors, but the output was rather shitty and I blinded everyone. Not something that was gonna fly with me. So I got the projectors and stuck them inside the headlights. I didnt finish them off, because I plan on getting those TYC projector headlights, and putting my HID projectors in them.

You'll probably end up being rather disapointed if you stick a 9006 kit in your OEM headlights, especially if the lenses are chipped and yellowed (you'll only be able to tell if you compare them to a NEW headlight). Plus you'll be blinding oncomming traffic.

i got OEM HID projectors retrofitted on OEM philips 4100 K D2S hid bulbs and OEM hella gen IV slim ballast, nice as the nicest OEM hids out there. cheap rice bulbs($20-100) cant touch me in terms of color and output. even 9006K, H1, H3 aftermarket HID systems like philips, hella, catz i dont think is as good either($250-550) as mines. than again, my system costs close to $800, and that was with getting all my stuff half off, my projectors alone(JDM s2000s) cost around $450 alone, and there so rare. only way your gonna get that bouncing blue from white to purple effect we love so much.

Dude, i installed a set of hella 6000k hids in my car and they are awesome as hell. They project the light farther than the 4100k bulbs I had.

The install was very simple. The only difficult part was trying to figure out which of the two wires was positive and negative.

The only way I tested it was by plugging it in. If i had the negative wire into postive plug the fuse would blow. Thats how I knew i had it connected the wrong way. Aside from that I guess changing the fuse was the most difficult part.

there is no reason why a 6000k hid bulb would throw a different pattern than a 4100k bulb, unless the bases were different.

Well I intend to get new headlight housings soon. My point is not to look cool or blind traffic. Its a visibility thing, I do a lot of night driving and most of the time regular headlights don't suffice too well. I need to have something that gives me better visibility. I don't care if its pink light, as long as its better than the stock light output.

I've got 6000k's in my 03 Accord Coupe. Very easy to install even for someone that really doesn't know much about anything. With proper mounting, I installed mine in about 20-30min. I paid $329 shipped.

Here is a pic of them warming up:

And after about 30 seconds:

you cannot have HID lighting without ballasts.

true HID bulbs run about $100 a pop.
